Wagtail on the Beach

Took a walk out at Easthaven today. And it was glorious! Very hazy, even though there was a bit of a spring chill in the air, but the air was full of one of the most joyous sounds in creation - Skylarks, loads of them! Didn't get any shots of them, but I didn't care, I just felt privileged to enjoy their singing!

This shot had to compete with a swallow in flight - took dozens of shots of them on manual focus, ended up with 6 decent ones - one of which showed such a glorious shape, it nearly made it to blip. Also had a meadow pipit on the beach. Saw, but didn't shoot, a pair of Reed Buntings - they were hiding rather too well, saw quite a lot of the female, very beautiful even though not as striking as the male. And remembered my binoculars, so enjoyed a rook mobbing a sparrowhawk for a few minutes - the sparrowhawk was so languid, barely flapping, just circling round as the rook went mental!

Other interesting sights included a kayaker, who looked like he was in a wee recreational kayak, a bit scary on the sea even on a calm day! And a Stand Up Paddleboarder, firstg one I've seen - looked bizarre way off the shore!

Then had to pack up Poppy for her holidays - she's gone off north to the in-laws, as I'm heading to join richtoller, rat and Debiives and family in the Yorkshire Dales. Jem's on nights just now, then heads up to join Poppy on Monday for a week of studying. I'll miss them!
