Cup winners

Last pic of a full day of sport ! This is Western Wildcats who won a thrilling cup final against Glynhill Hotel Kelburne 5-4. Great game to finish the day of finals at Peffermill, Edinburgh. And a bit of an upset as Kelburne had won the league by seven points from their nearest rivals while Western finished way back in 5th place, a full twenty-one points worse off than their cup final opponents.
The women's cup final was between two Dundee teams - Grove Menzieshill and VWS Dundee Wanderers. First and second in the league, Grove completed the double with a 2-0 win in another hard-fought match.
Which is more than could be said for the men's plate final (the competition for teams knocked out of the cup before the last 16). The teams were rather mismatched, not surprisingly as Hillhead finished the league season comfortably in mid table in Division 1, while their opponents Alpha Data Carnegie ended mid-table in Division 2. To be fair to the only east coast representatives in the two men's games they kept going to the end but they crashed to a one-sided 13-0 defeat.
The women's plate final was between two Edinburgh teams, with Grange EL winning 4-1 against the 'home team', Edinburgh University Ladies. Which was the game that had started the day off back at 10 in the morning.
