Great Crested Grebe

Backblip

Podiceps cristatus

A slightly hungover morning after last night's party. A slow start chatting with I and G, then across the Great Wen to meet up with J & L. Such beautiful weather, we sat outside for lunch, then down to Richmond for a wander before the theatre.
A great day for birds; there was a big heron rookery, Canada geese, grey wagtails and my first view of feral parakeets! A real joy was this handsome Great Crested Grebe, patrolling back and forth under the willows.

There are a few more photos HERE, including a rare leucistic mallard; sort of like a mild form of albinism.
