The day of the competition.

My daughter had three routines, a women's pair, a womens trio, and a mixed pair. Both the first routines were OK, but there was lots of other competition in both those categories and they didn't perform well enough to get a medal.

In the third category, the mixed pair, she was guaranteed a gold, as they were the only mixed pair entered! All afternoon she had a great time practicing and chatting to the older girls that she was teamed with. It was completely different with her final team mate, a teenage boy. She avoided him until the last moment, until he came up to her to ask her to practice. Funnily enough, her final routine was the one she performed best in. But, when it came to climbing onto the rostron to collect their medal, she couldn't get off fast enough!

I'm sure that will change in years to come ... but not too soon, I hope!
