Paint it again Sam

This photo is of part of the Forth Railway Bridge.

Mrs S and I had our very first visit to South Queensferry today. Don't know why we'd not been there before - we live less than 30 mins drive away. I've probably spent too much time going to / from Edinburgh airport and not realised there is so much nice countryside in between when you are off the motorway.

Anyhow, we had a brilliant day taking lots of photos of the bridges. South Queensferry is a really super wee place assuming you can get parked. We arrived quite early so managed to find a parking space. By the time we left in mid afternoon it was mega-busy.

It's quite amazing how much work is being done on the bridge and of course the architecture of the bridge is just super. I know its been filmed a zillion times before but its a bit like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, its hard not to stop and take photos of it.

One downside was I managed to drop my camera which landed lens first and shattered the filter. It is (might yet be was) the most expensive lens I have too. But the smashed filter seems so far to have taken the hit. Will need to test the lens some more to check if it is ok. Mrs S wandered off to take some photos whilst I fretted over the lens. I took one shot with it and the cracked filter still on it. Amazingly, when I looked at the photo on the computer it is absolutely fine - cant even see any of the filter cracks - weird or what?

The photo on blip today is taken by Mrs S whose D300S and its telephoto lens were in good form. After changing the lens for a 50mm and using my other new(ish) camera I was still pretty pleased with the outcomes today. We'll now be planning some more visits to South Queensferry.
