One Leek Please!
I have fallen in love again.
Yes, even at my advanciing years anything is possible.
And it's not his Lordship who so wondrously and gallantly found me as I left the train at Garsdale yesterday afternoon that has stirred this emotion, but the North Yorkshire Dales.
I am in love with the dry stone dykes that endlessly snake their way over the fields and hills.
I am in love with the switch back roads and narrow humback bridges.
I am in love with the thrill of being on the road with a sheer drop to the Buttertub Pass.
I am in love with nursery schools of lambs playing in the fields.
I am in love with the tidy little stone villages seemingly dropped randomly into the landscape.
I am in love with the country pubs and the trestle tables outside filled with walkers.
I am in love with the glasses of cider drunk outside these pubs.
I am in love with the scones with cherries and nuts in Leyburn.
I am in love with the misty vista down Swaledale.
I am in love with the stone barns which dot the dales.
I am in love with the friendly people.
I am also in love with the knowledge that I don't have to cycle my bike up these hilly roads!
I am definitely in love with North Yorkshire and its dales.
I have so many images taken today, but this is the most colourful. It is of market day in Leyburn.
