Calm on the lake

On the drive home tonight I noticed that Bassenthwaite Lake looked really smooth and calm tonight so I got to thinking about ND filters and a shot of Derwent Water thinking it would be as calm as Bass Lake.

Hmmm, not as calm as I'd hoped and the light was still too bright to get the long exposure effect I was hoping for. Never mind, I climbed over a fence to get this shot instead. It was a long exposure of approx 30 seconds, believe it or not a pair of ducks swam across the shot, but they haven't shown up in the final image. I especially like the light of the last of the setting sun captured in the hazy clouds.
