Practice

The big final recruit-school written exam happened today and I'm proud to say that everyone in the class passed! We wrap up the exam phase of our training tomorrow with the Practical Skill Assessments, which is why the shadows are so long in this blip. Tonight we reviewed and practiced almost until the sun went down.

You might remember from old blips that the fire department offers free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings; today we learned about the rest of the community programs offered through the Department - there are a lot. Home safety (smoke detectors & escape plans), Fire Safety Week, school outreach, station tours, injury prevention, public lectures, Campus Calgary events, pet CPR... the list goes on. We are now walking civic encyclopaedias!
