Table for Two

The Patriots' Day festivities started weeks ago, but the main events are this weekend, starting with the battle reenactments along the Battle Road at Minute Man National Historical Park. We didn't see any of the battles (very noisy), but there are always plenty of reenactors around for the long weekend, living as the colonists did over 200 years ago. These two were in a tavern along the battle road, eating root cellar soup* with some rather primitive looking utensils. We were told by the "reenactress" who was making the soup over a fire that it's made of whatever was left in the root cellar after the winter. This reenacting is some serious business. It's sometimes easy to forget that these people must also live everyday, twenty-first century lives the rest of the year. At least, I think they do.
