Hide Away Folk Family

Roy G Biv

First day of my son being back after a week away with his cousins. The weather just fabulous. Blossom heavy on the trees and unshaken by even the lightest of breezes.

We set off for a mid-afternoon cycle, taking a shaded route which used to be a railway line north from the town, cut by Beeching's axe and unlikely to be reopened any time soon.

To reach it we have to cross by a pedestrian footbridge over the river - and bikes must be wheeled (and horses led I believe).

On the way back I stopped on the bridge to try to grab a pic - the green blossom one side, a canoe being paddled downriver. And there as I finished and turned was my son looking back waiting for me.

With the trees overhead and the sun slanting in from the west, it looked magical.

I have to confess to using HDR to enhance the effect since I wanted to lend it a hyper-real 1970s postcard effect.

It's sort of a nod to what I remember these kind of days feeling like as a child.

It felt like this today.

Roy G Biv is another TMBG song - this one about all the colours in the rainbow, the initials of which make up the name Roy G Biv. It felt appropriate for the intense colours of the shot.
