Summer stroll
18months 2 days
What a lovely day! It went from being one with almost nothing planned, to being packed to the last minute and an absolute delight.
We went out for a walk, her and I, for a couple of hours this morning before the sun got too hot, with her in the littlelife (good job as she fell asleep and cuddled up on my back!)
After a couple of little jobs, we went to her swimming lesson. It was the first toddler one. There was a difference, lot less singing, more structure, a lot of encouraging the children to be independent, without us holding on them, a different way of getting in the water (although actually this turned out to be how Katie chooses to get into/down/off anything anyway!) stuff like that. Katie didnt approve of when they had to walk along the pool (step for Katie as she cant quite reach) - she just wanted to swim, not put her feet down!
She was shattered after her lesson and was falling asleep as I strapped her in. I got to the car to discover a text inviting us out with little Emma and family. We went to somehere new. A wonderful lake with walks, animals, play area, paddling. It was brilliant. And cheap. £1 per adult, then the compulsory ice cream, that was it. It was a gorgeous afternoon, and Katie loved running up the little hills and wooded bits, over the little bridge. The children didnt paddle today but Katie was itching to! There were rabbits for sale, dwarf albinos. I was desperate to bring one home. I think Katie was too. She loved them. She walked the whole way round the lake, and was trying to go off again. When she's bigger, you can hire kayaks, canoes, pedalos, sailing boats. I can't wait for her to be big enough to do all those things!
After the lakes, we stopped in at a friend's birthday party at the playcafe, but had got the time wrong, so arrived just in time for food and cake, and a bit of a play. She had a lovely time though, as Aiden and Harrison were there. She ate a big bowl of jelly. Entirely with her fingers.
