This is Frank. He is the sole maintenance guy at our apartment complex. He was just coming out of the creepy basement in one of our units, which were built in the 1930s. While his work quality is fairly sketchy, at best, he is a genuinely nice guy who always greets you with a warm smile (not pictured). And he drives a really old red BMW.
Leah and I ran a few short errands together, one of which was the camera shop to get a new protector for my screen. Twenty bucks for a fucking piece of plastic but, hey, that's what credit cards are for. Her generous and thoughtful birthday present is so worth the money, if I have it and today I did. After that, we went to the zoo again today--big surprise! Her school schedule is winding down so we have a lot more time together--it is so nice that we are here, together, living a relatively peaceful existence. We really need to go on a bike ride and will probably do so tomorrow since the weather will finally be clearing. But, can I just say, how much I love spending time with Leah; nothing about her is high-maintenance, competitive, or over-the-top. Together our keels are even, our sailing smooth. We make things work and we make them work well. This is so refreshing to me still and I will totally run the risk of sounding sentimental to extol this here, for what it's worth.
Also: thanks to Leah for helping me edit this with her Mac photo software (this is the first time I've done a digital black and white--with film it made sense and I used to shoot it all the time, with this photo, something about his skin tones wasn't quite right in color; so, thus, photo editing). Ah, and looking forward to the communique from Stephen and Emma, our Scottish Blip dopplegangers! What a great community this all is.
This world, and it's people with all their faults and graces, is shining finally. No, really, the sun just came out.
