Peony

The peony flowers this year are massive! They are so showy and dramatic, it's just a shame that they don't last the whole summer.

While doing a bit of clearing today I uncovered a blackbird's nest with a resident sitting on her eggs. i made a hasty retreat and hope I haven't scared her off. If she's still there tomorrow I might try and get a sneaky pic - with a zoom of course.
