Day one at the Allotment

We waited 4 years for an allotment.

We are very happy to have one to have a go at growing our own veg and get some exercise in the great outdoors, but frankly, this patch of land has not had any attention for many years, so why couldn't we have had it earlier?

Anyway, we have worked ourselves to a standstill today and have uncovered this nice bed surrounded by old railway sleepers. We have found some odd lumps and bumps and wonder why our plot is so low compared with our neighbour?

I unearthed some strange bits of metal [not precious!] and we found loads of bugs and amphibians.

We picked rhubarb for a crumble and I cut down a lot of nettle and briar.

There's a lot still to do!
