Dumyat, Devon and Diamond.*
Yet another Sunday afternoon head clearing daunder after a jolly Saturday night with family and friends (adopted family comprising the twins Bulmer and Magners included). Someone in the household was unable to come along though due to the onset of some sudden illness...
Today we jumped some fences and wandered around the old abandoned site of the Glenochil mine. This was a state-of-the-art supermine built in the 1950s that, due to someone not doing a bit of basic research, was built on mineworks that had already taken out most of the coal. The place shut around ten years after it opened without producing any substantial supplies, and now there's very little sign that there was anything there at all.
Highlight of the walk though was when he disturbed a pheasant in the grass and it took off like a bullet inches from him. He fair keeched himself so he did and the scream he let out and the look on his face were priceless. There's a nightmare building off the back of that one I think.
All these days off are beginning to mess with my head (as well as play merry hell with my liver) and the usual Sunday evening routine's out the window (Songs of Praise, bath, early bed). As far as I'm concerned, it's Friday night and that's the way I'm going to live it.
* The hill which is on fire here and under that strange UFO-like cloud, the river the swans are swimming in, and the structure of the bridge over the river the photo was shot from.
