Christ Church, Mussoorie
There were a couple of places, which I wanted to go yesterday - Cloud's end and Everest House. Unfortunately, on the way we found the road was under construction, and were to take much longer detour to reach there. As a result, it did not work out. I was waiting for Sunday, since it's the only day when Churches remain open there. There was one near by, also the oldest established in 1836, called Christ Church. I reached in the morning when it was not open. But one of the peons opened it for me to go inside. It was rich in architecture, some old furnisher, lamps, piano etc. It was maintained well too. I was still there, when visitors started pouring in. I learnt that one of the guys was a piano player and played every week during the holy mass. There were old christian ladies who brought some nice flowers and arranged them before the procession. While, it was setting up and I could listen to the piano, I was called to have breakfast. I wanted return to back. So, when I reached again, the prayers were going on. There were a few people who were noticeably a part of the community and service. I seemed to be the only outsider attending the mass. The priest came to everyone and shook hands, as people did among themselves as a custom. This time too, I could not go up to take the offering, supper like, at the end of the prayer. I have seen this since my school time, but somehow never had the courage to go and have it. It is still a mystery. In the end, when I was returning back, I was called upon by a member to join them for tea. I loved the idea, but I could not go for it, as the cab was waiting out and was ready to leave..
