St Davids Cathedral
Today's the day .................. to visit the City
Went up the coast today to the tiny cathedral city of St Davids. It is really no bigger than a village but contains the Cathedral, built on the site of the monastery founded by St David (Dewi Sant) in the 6th Century. The City status of St Davids was granted by the Queen by Royal Charter on 1st June 1995.
The Cathedral has been an important place of pilgrimage for nearly fourteen centuries. In 1124, Pope Calixtus II declared that two pilgrimages to St Davids were equal to one to Rome and that three were equal to one to Jerusalem itself...........
