A Gate at Balmullo Farm

This spell of good weather is rather unnerving. Great for the garden though as all the seeds we planted 3 weeks or so ago are starting to pop up. The flower garden which looked bare and drab in the winter is now full of bright green foliage and flower heads are starting to form. It can't last, can it?

As the collie had disgraced herself last night (and her paw is a wee bit lame again) I took the troublesome lurcher with me when I went out for a walk this fine evening. He was rather perturbed when I headed off in a slightly different direction from our normal walks.

The part of the building you can see is at one entrance to the village and is now mostly in ruin. The state of its current disrepair is fairly recent. A couple of years back a planning application went in to redevelop the site into new homes. The application did not go through and I think at that point, for some reason, parts of the building disappeared.

The gate itself led into a small courtyard with the main building to the rear of that. Above the gates and around the courtyard on the upper floor appears to have been accomodation, perhaps for staff?

Now the gate simply allows you to view through to the fields behind although the three other sides of the building are still "intact" if derelict.

I wonder if the housing development will ever go ahead or if some other development will come along and restore the original building
