Guthrie Place

Had to pop into St Andrews late this afternoon to get some new specs for young master Jake. He has mangled his current ones. He also needed a haircut. He is at that stage now where he is begining to express an opinion on his look. I thought I might have another few years of him being biddable. He eschewed the notion of metal framed specs (much easier for a mother to de-mangle) for some rigid blue/black framed ones. He was not happy when I instructed the barber to trim his damned annoying fringe above his eyebrows (the shocked look is always good on a young person, I think) and he is now threatening to have all of his hair cut off with a number 2 cut as some sort of revenge. Silly boy, he will learn that the mothers word IS the law :)

St Andrews, or the grey toon, is full of fine buildings. It also sports many gunnels, alleys or closes off the main streets. If you wander down these you find a higgledy piggledy arrangement of homes built at varying times and of varying styles. From the new to the very, very old.

The washing hanging out on Guthrie Place caught my eye this afternoon. It was a fine day for it. Bright blue sky and a gentler breeze. This spot is just down the side of Starbucks on Market Street. Guess that's why there are also commercial bins
