Filing

I HATE it. I hated it at work too - oh the joys of having a secretary. But after a day yesterday spent pouring over a laptop doing accounts I thought I'd better get the paperwork done. This is my wonderful filing system - diaries on the left, files on the right and a sewing machine down below. Not what I had before, well nothing is like I had before.

I struggle trying to make my bedroom (3.95m x 2.77m according to my neighbour's 'for sale' schedule) appear bigger, with space for all my stuff. It would be good if it was like the Tardis, but it's not. I have had to adjust to downsizing from a huge bedroom in France with walk-in wardrobe and 2 filing cabinets downstairs, and before that a 4m x 4m bedroom with a separate office. Now I have a double bed, a falling apart IKEA wardrobe (#1 son put it together and then #3 son and I moved it!), my pine washstand and a chair squeezed into the room. The shoes are under the washstand and the filing is in the cupboard under the window. BUT, the filing is done and the papers I thought I'd lost have been found so can't be all bad.

Also on the positive side the mice seem to have departed, no more scrabbling at night and mice droppings. Don't know if it was the Arthur effect, the fact that we did our best to cut off the food supply or because it got warmer and they preferred being out in the sun! However, fellow Edinburgh blippers, I'm on the look out for a female kitten or young cat, that would be happy living in a flat. I've had cats off and on since '79. A tortie and white stray who kept visiting the neighbours and after 6 years was killed by a car, a tabby, birthday present from Dave who disappeared (we thinks she ran off with a feral 'twin' who used to visit!), a ginger who Cats Protection said was female - he wasn't. He disappeared before he could be returned to them. A tortie and white from a farm who lived to be over 14 and died in my arms. A tortie from Kemnay who is now on a farm in SW France and a French stray tabby who is on the same farm. However,I've discovered in Edinburgh you're expected to pay for kittens (not in Aberdeen, still on Gumtree Aberdeen there are more free than for sale). So if you know anyone who needs a new home for a kitten (tortie and white being my favourite) - I'd be happy to hear about it.
