Fun with Nico

Today's the day ....................... to learn polish

Will and I were invited round for a barbeque this afternoon with son Tim and his girlfriend Beata - and Beata's young son, Nicolas. Beata is polish and her parents have been over visiting for a couple of weeks - so it was a chance to meet them too for the first time.

The only trouble was - our polish is non-existent and their english wasn't too great, so Beata had her work cut out as chief translator for everybody. It's amazing though how you do manage to pick up a few words - dobra meaning good was a useful one ...... and you can get across quite a lot with mime and gesticulations?!

One little chap had no trouble at all though - young Nico changed effortlessly from english to polish, depending on who was talking to him. That just has to be the best way to learn a language .............
