Need a holiday!

Normally by the start of the year we have planned what to do with every single day of our annual leave and booked our big holiday. This year we've got a few ideas of where we would like to go but nothing is booked. Think we need to get planning so we have something definite to look forward to after the last few days.

Feeling really annoyed today. I rang our advice line we get free with work for some legal advice as we found out the police officer who attended the accident has already filed his report without giving Mike the opportunity to make a statement, which means they have not got all the information which might make a difference at the next stage where they decide if the driver of the car will be prosecuted. The PC wasn't aware about the comments the driver made about being distracted by her phone and that she could not use her phone to call an ambulance because it had been damaged in the crash!

The legal advisor I spoke to said if she is not prosecuted then this means it will be Mike's word against the drivers and this means he might not even get compensation for the damage to his bike. All seems really unjust. I think we could accept them coming to the conclusion not to prosecute if they had done a proper investigation and taken everything into consideration but they haven't. It's not fair that Mike should be out of pocket because someone was distracted by their phone and mowed him down. The legal eagle advised us to write a letter of complaint to the police.

There are some preliminary test results back from the post mortem on the one horse and it is not salmonella. They are doing more tests as they still haven't established the cause of death. Apparently the owner of the second horse did not want a post mortem which is understandablebut it means we'll never really know if the two deaths are linked in any way. The other horses that have been off colour are now on the mend so the yard owner says it's likely we'll be able to ride out again at the weekend. Feeling a bit calmer about things now but I am still watching my two like a hawk and the slightest thing I will get the vet out.
