Upgrading
We'd been warned well in advance that the section of track between Dún Laoghaire and Glasthule would be closed over the Christmas period. It was all about upgrading the sub-structure or something like that, according to Carl so that the DART could travel faster over this section (the work is now well complete, but there's no real sense that things have got any faster).
Anyway, the circumstances behind this blip are all a bit vague because of writing this so long after the event. I do remember walking along what's known as The Metals, spotting the floodlights, seeing the work in progress, and stopping to blip it. This sort of through-the-night work is very rare in Ireland, so this was something which definitely needed to be recorded for posterity.
What's gone a bit blurry is why we were walking along here at this time on this day. Perhaps we were going for a meal. Perhaps we were going for a drink. Perhaps we just wanted to get out of the house for a while. Who knows? I certainly don't at this back-blipping stage.
