Bumble Bee!
Bombus sp. (Hymenoptera: Apidae), male.
I followed this guy around my Poppies for about 25 minutes and this was my favorite shot of him. I tried to portray how large this Bumble Bee really was, but it is difficult to see. Most of the time he landed on a Poppy and the flower would bend over so far he wouldn't be able to stay on. He had plenty of orange pollen in those pollen sacks, so I don't think he was doing too poorly. Other smaller bumble bees would land on a flower and tumble around inside - it looked like fun. This one, could only stick his big head in, sometimes the whole body, but it would fill the flower.
Even bigger LARGE.
Enjoy.
Weekend coming up.
