Willow Glen Relay for Life
Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we've lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.
This weekend between 10:30am Saturday till 10:30am Sunday, hundreds will walk the track at Willow Glen High School, play games, listen to live music, camp-out, and experience the night-time candle-led walk and reading of names of local cancer Survivors and those that have lost their lives to the disease.
This relay supports the fight on cancer through the American Cancer Society. People will walk in teams for 24 hours to show their support. These folks have already been working for 3 months or more to raise funds to support their walk.
I took this at about 9pm on Saturday night. It's a 3 second exposure at ISO 1600, hand-held. As these folks walk through the night (it's raining now and it's predicted to rain all evening long into mid day tomorrow), names are announced in memorial on the loudspeaker continuously for 24 hours. The candle lit luminaries are strung along the complete 1/4 mile track and spell out HOPE in the far grandstands. I had the 45 yard position across the field...
Enjoy!
