Abseiling

On a visit to the Falkirk Wheel this morning we spotted this person abseiling down. Don't know if it was part of a sponsored abseil event or whether he just didn't fancy the slower trip down in the boat to the lower canal level via the wheel. Looked exciting though and great views of the nearby Ochil Hills.

Watching the abseiling reminded me of a conversation I once had when I worked in London about how the rescue services would get people out of the London Eye if it got stuck. One (probably extreme) view was that the contingency plan would be to abseil the visitors down. Aye right (as we say in Scotland)!!

Our walk also took us to part of the Antonine Wall and Rough Castle Roman Fort near the Falkirk Wheel. A fascinating place - will do a blip on that later.
