Camping at the beach

We took the 4 Girl Scouts in our troop to Leo Carrillo for a campout this weekend. Beautiful weather! So many great shots I could have posted!

This was taken from the trail of our hike, up in the hills above the beach, looking over the coast of Southern California towards Ventura. Great tide pools! It was low tide and the girls got to see lots of sea anenome (nope, didn't spell that right), a big colorful crab, and lots of mussels.

Part of our their badge we they were working on entailed picking up trash on the beach. As our good luck would have it, we found a booth being set up offering free t-shirts and bags & gloves to sign up and pick up trash! Very cool!

I found a baby rattlesnake (and got great pics of him, too!) when I was about to pick up a piece of trash that he was guarding. We told the ranger and he picked it up and put it in his bucket so he could transport him to the canyons. And I found a bungee cord too! I just happened to need one to secure our stuff in the wagon we dragged with us....and lo & behold! I found a great old sturdy one on the beach! Score!

We had a wonderful time. It was nice to spend time with Victoria & her friends away from her brother and sister. Rare opportunity!
