Book Fair

This week is our spring book fair so after school we headed to our school library to let the kids pick out a couple books to take home and one for each of their teachers. They always enjoy going to the book fair to "shop". Schools are in such financial crisis right now, anything we can do to support our schools, teachers and libraries I feel we MUST do.

I'm going to step on my soap box for a second. Currently where we live there is a Levy on the ballot to restore and fund 10 of the 20 days being cut from our 2011-2012 school year. Scary to think about 20 additonal school days being cut next year! I heard one statisitc recently that if you add all the days our schools have had to cut because of budget issues then by the time our children finish their 12 years of education they will actually have been shorted one entire years worth of an education. And kids are future, right? So why would we cut their education and the tools they need to be successful. Just some thoughts :)
