Texture

"The experiences of texture and color are both penetrating, yet the two experiences are different. The perception of texture seems to be gentler, deeper, and more 'full-bodied.' Seeing texture has an almost tactile quality, which can help you connect deeply with form.... Sometimes you can pretend that your eyeballs have fingertips.
--The Practice of Contemplative Photography, by Andy Karr and Michael Wood.

Took the streetcar to an appointment with the chiropractor this morning, trying to adjust my neck to relieve the frequent migraines. Then collected some boxes from a friend who just moved. This afternoon I'm driving another friend to a hospital for a procedure, staying with her through it...so it's not a day when I can dawdle much, but I'm still fascinated with this book on Buddhism and photography, and on the importance of seeing without interpretations. Looking for texture today. Letting my eyeballs have fingertips.
