Metalheadz

That sound you hear is the bottom of the barrel being scraped. We're looking after our neighbours goldfish, the cunningly named Goldie (you can see where I'm going with this can't you). Anyway I was stuck, so here he is.

I went through a drum & bass phase when Metalheadz was at it's mid to late 90's peak, having become bored with the sub-britpop pap that had laid claim to indie. It wasn't a label I worshipped, I was more of a Moving Shadow man (watch this space), but they did release some seminal tracks and of course label founder Goldie was the popular face of DnB at the time. I can't really listen to the stuff these days (with the exception being Photek's Modus Operandi) and thought that the label was dead until I stumbled across this Burial remix of Commix - Be True. In fact it's made me realise that the darker side of dubstep is exactly what I was seeking from DnB all along, which it ultimately failed to deliver.
