Mount St Bernard Abbey was built in 1843; the first Roman Catholic monastery built in England since the Reformation. It houses a community of Cistercian monks who are involved in running a 200 acre dairy farm, beekeeping, vegetable growing and cultivating an orchard as well as pottery, bookbinding and running the monastery shop and guesthouse. This is in addition to a life of prayer and religious contemplation, starting at 3.15am!
It's probably no surprise that it was geocaching that took me here today. This was the starting point for cache number four of the day after a pit stop @ the Toby Carvery.
