Old Meldrum Sailor

I seem to be all over the place this week. Since heading back to work on Monday I've been to many wonderful places and taken some photographs of many wonderful curiosities, buildings and the odd statue.
This Blipping can be so frustrating. I love the idea of one a day taken on that day but i really despise picking which one.
This delightful fellow can be found outside the Meldrum Arms Hotel. Carved in freestone this near life-size statue is said to have been created for a sailor's widow who came from Kingsford, near Alford. It was rescued from a rubbish dump near Craigievar by the collector Postie Lawson and moved with him to Oldmeldrum in 1938.
