Coquina minnows at her feet
Joy and I had a lovely day yesterday. I wanted to show her some of the area beaches near where we live. Steven and I live very close to Anna Maria Island so we drove out that way. One bridge was way too backed up with traffic so we went around to the other one, first stopping off in our old neighborhood. We saw a beautiful, amazing orange Royal Poinciana tree in full bloom. The Cortez bridge was fine and we went first to the head of Anna maria Island, and then to Coquina Beach. At Coquina, much to our delight, there were many birds, probably because of the fisherman!
We saw a Great Blue Heron in a tree and also on the beach. One of my favorites was a Great Egret flipping a fish so it was head first and he could eat it! A snowy egret with yellow feet kept us entertained for a long time. He was fishing for minnows, right where Joy is pictured sitting above.
I hope we are not tiring you out with all our activities!! Joy reminds me that we did relax and go for ice cream! Today we plan to go out in Steven's sailboat, but take easy and motor around. ; ^ ) boo hoo, Joy goes home tomorrow . . . .
