Heathland fire

For the second time this month the fire service have attended a fire on the lowland heath. By the time I heard about it the flames were out and they were clearing away having spent three hours damping down. Although the vegetation springs back up quite swiftly nesting birds and reptiles are the main casualties. After the last one I found several dead slow worms and grass snakes.
