Gyrfalcon

The Boy and I had a bit of time to enjoy ourselves today. In previous visits we had seen a sign for a falconry centre but it was too early in the year to visit. Today we decided to visit. Arrived at 10:30 to find it opened at 11am so we drove back down the road and had a walk up a hill in Askham. It was a nice walk and it killed just enough time.

The centre had less birds than advertised on a site we'd found but we were happy to pay to see them and support the work and breeding programs that are being done with them. Unfortunately we needed to be back in town when the flight shows were happening but we had a nice cup of tea in the tea room and will go back again in the future.
