Roses of Appreciation
Last night was our final General Membership PTA meeting of the school year. I am blessed to work with such a dedicated group of woman. We held our annual Board elections last night and most held positions stayed the same but there were a few changes. Our fearless President (as we call her) stepped down, while our VP stepped up. I left behind my position as Events Coordinator which I have held the past year and it is my baby. I handed it over to a good friend and school mom who I know will do amazing things with it. I was elected to the VP position and am excited about the new challenges it brings next school year.
The best part of the evening was before the meeting began. We walked into the library and it was decorated with several vases of rose bouquets, red paper placemats on the tables along with "thank you" notes. There was also a table set up with various soda and water for all of us to enjoy. We all stood there almost in disbelief of what we walked in to. We even questioned if it was for a function going on at the school the next day. Our Principal, who this was his first year with us walked in and said it was all for us from him and the staff because they "appreciate" all we do and we had helped make his first year so much easier. Silly as it may sound but I had to fight back the tears. To know that someone appreciates how hard you as an individual and a group works to do things for the the kids, school, teachers and staff is an amazing feeling. We try so hard to make the most of what we have and to show OUR appreciation for them. This was a wonderful, touching surprise to be appreciated in return.
Our meeting didn't last long however we all stayed around afterwards to enjoy good company along with a variety of snacks and desserts we all brought in. It's hard to believe that was our last meeting of the school year, where has this year gone? I'll miss PTA until next fall. The bond I've formed with my Board and the teachers has been amazing and continues to grow stronger each year.
These are just two of the dozens of gorgeous roses our principal bought for us out of appreciation. We are so blessed to be part of a wonderful school.
*We're heading out camping for the holiday weekend (yes in the rain). I wont be blipping for a few days but with any luck I will return home with some nice pictures to share from our short trip. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend everyone!*
