Stepping stones

These stepping stones are at Ashwell Springs in Hertfordshire. The springs are the source of the river Rhee, one of the sources of the river Cam, and were used as the village laundry until piped water arrived in the village in 1913.

The Springs have been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the presence of particularly rare flatworms. These flatworms are dependent on the high quality cold water which rises from the hard band of chalk known as Totternhoe Stone.

This is my attempt at 'movement' - there are traces of water ripples there, if you look closely - honest!

Today was Frantic Friday - thank goodness it's over and we now have 10 days off. Hurrah for school holidays!
