Newhaven Gala Day
Went down to see the Gala Day which celebrates the history of Newhaven being an old fishing village this morning.
The boat here was carrying the King and Queen and had sailed from Granton Harbour a few miles down the road.
The King and Queen were children from the local Primary School and were greeted to the sound of a piper, and a band of steel drummers, and other school children dressed as fishermen and fisherwives.
They left the boat and were piped across the road to the Primary School grounds where they were crowned and stalls, games and a barbecue was had.
Unfortunately as they stepped off the boat the heavens opened and along with the wind it was a bit miserable.
As I was standing waiting for the boat I was asked if I was from the local paper!
