Destined emotional and political maturation.
I had to go home to the Springs to work the Warrior Games at the Air Force Academy. Much to my amazement, the Warrior Games are not lacrosse games but a series of Olympic style athletic competitions between wounded veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines created in order to encourage and show appreciation to those men and women who sacrificed a great deal during war. I beleive I was destined to go to this event, because after I attended the closing ceremonies I gained an appreciation towards those who serve in the military. Which, if you knew me a couple years ago, that would be unheard of. How can I look someone in the eye who is missing a leg and has shrap metal still in his eye and skull from war that what they did for our country is worthless? I can't. Of course the week before I had a dream about my dear friend Micah who is in special intelligence in the Navy. He is stationed now in Bahrain, and this event made me miss him beyond words. I can't imagine being married to or being related to someone who is abroad for war for years at a time. My heart goes out to those who have to deal with it, may you have grace and peace.
Also, my puppies are perfectly adorable and dear.
