Caterpillar Rose

What is this caterpillar!? I am getting very slack in identifying things. The rose is a Dog rose, or may be, as it is white, could it be a Field Rose (Rosa arvensis)? It was growing in the hedgerow down the lane.

The caterpillar certainly looks very hairy. Some hairy ones sting but I am not sure about this one.

Two calves born in the field yesterday and today. Still desperate for some proper rain and warmth to make the grass grow. Last winter's hay and straw will be finished in the next few weeks. The weather forecasters always mention the poor gardeners but never spare a thought for the poor farmers in this drought who produce quite a lot of food for us to eat!

We had a good night out last night and met friends at their local pub so feel quite lazy today after dashing up and down the motorway the day before that!

Just looked up the caterpillar and it might be the larva of a Brown Tailed Moth. The hairs are poisonous having small barbs on them which can cause breathing difficulties, headaches, skin irritation and sickness in humans - so stay away!
