Setting the Dry Bricks into the Clamp...

Penultimate picture in the series, This is how the dry bricks are set ready to burn.
The Clamp is set manually with seven guys who take four weeks to build this structure, each clamp contains 1.1 million bricks and paver's.
They take the dry bricks from stillages which comes from the dryer after being in the dryer for around 3 days. The Fork Lift Truck brings each stillage to the clamp and the guys lay the bricks very close to each other so when the burn each burns the next brick and so it goes on like a chain reaction, then after four weeks the clamp to fully burnt.

The white bricks on the side are insulation bricks, this hods the heat into the clamp and reduces the wastage.

Each man has to set 11,000 bricks by hand each day to reach his target and obtain his bonus. Most Setters have been at the works for many years.
