Packing Bricks from the Clamp...

The Clamp is gas fired from the bottom, and is progressively fired the full length of the clamp over a period of three weeks.
The insulation bricks retain the heat in the clamp and burn the bricks to around 1050°C to 1080°C, the bricks have around 8-10% body fuel, Coke Breeze (crushed Coke), this helps the burning and reduces the gas usage.

Over the three weeks the fire works it's way down the clamp, until the heat disperses and the clamp is fully fired.

Once this has been completed, the packing team begins to pack the bricks into the packs that you see on building sites. The packing team reject unfired and over fired bricks and selects out the best quality product that commands the best price from our customers.
The packing takes around three weeks to select and pack the 1.1 Million bricks in each clamp.
Again each man packs around 11,000 bricks per day.
