Baa-nana-rama!
Last day in Liverpool visiting Folkie Booknerd, my sister.
This is a Super Lamb Banana, obviously. Created by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo as Liverpool's contribution to the 1998 Art TransPennine exhibition, it became a symbol of the city when 125 two metre tall replicas were made to celebrate Liverpool being European Capital of Culture in 2008.
Although intended to warn of the dangers of GM food, it has come to also represent Liverpool's history as a city of trade, exporting wool & importing exotic foods from around the world.
Differently coloured Super Lamb Bananas are now dotted around the city. This one stands outside the Royal Court Theatre.
(Have back-blipped last two days, should you care to have a butcher's!)
