Stumped
Another meeting this morning with the radiation oncologist. As predicted by the other specialist, the biopsy results from ten days ago were indeed clear, so at least the problem hasn't spread outside the prostate. But still there's that 'abnormality' that showed up on the MRI. The bottom line after today's consultation is that I'm to continue with the hormone injections and then to get another PSA done a week before going back to the oncologist three months from now. Irrespective of how the PSA turns out, I'm already booked in for another MRI in November, with a further visit scheduled with the oncologist for December. All of this is to gather as much information as possible to help decide what to do about radiation treatment in addition to the course of hormones. He's very keen to add radiation into the mix, but is concerned at possible 'serious' side-effects if this cannot be focused exclusively on the prostate. Despite all the indecision, I left the hospital feeling content.
There was enthusiastic feedback from the client when I got back home, which gave me a further lift. I'm to get proofs for the rest of the job to him later today and tomorrow, but we're looking good to go to print really quickly.
After lunch I went to the bank to get a bank draft to pay for our Russian visas and to get a starter pack of Russian and Norwegian currency. The bank had Kroner okay, but not Rubles, which means I'll need to make a separate trip to another currency exchange tomorrow after submitting our visa applications at the embassy of the Russian Federation.
The blip? There was quite a long wait before I got to see the consultant, so I had a bite to eat in the hospital restaurant and also went outside for some fresh air. Looking down towards the entrance to A & E I saw this group of sawn-off tree stumps. I just blipped them for something to blip, not realising that I would soon learn that the consultant was also stumped by my MRI 'abnormality'. So, stumped it is.
