Pressure

I've been writing a few bits about some indie bands here and elsewhere this week. There's a whole raft of bands that I used to like, bands who did a few cracking singles and then their album let them down or other bands who released fabulous debut albums and then got all serious and ambitious for the follow-up.

One of the bands whose album I really liked on release was Maximo Park. Great hooks, choruses and wonderful bursts of pop but after that I lost interest. Plus, lead singer Paul Smith started wearing a bowler hat in every picture and every TV appearance. It really started to irk me, I probably shouldn't have been bothered but I couldn't help it. It's a look that'll never catch on, surely.

So, to honour the band, best have one of their finest tunes.
