Sun Spot

A very gloomy day, with the occasional ray of sunshine making it through the low clouds. I liked this one that lit up the clay bank beside a farm track up the hill.

I was hoping to give my daughter an earthquake free holiday, but this morning we had a 5.5 that was felt quite strongly here. There was a jerking shake, then a long slow jiggle, and ending with another jerk. Just a few seconds, but it seemed to go on and on. It was centred near where the September quake was. Spectators at a football match saw waves on the surface of the field under the players. Nobody was hurt and there was no major damage.
