Isle of Man TT, 2011. Dianese Superbikes race.
Shot this today at St Ninians crossroads, one of the fastest stretches of the course where the superbike riders fly past at 170mph+, so I'm told (I'm not really into bikin' myself). I had trouble panning and snapping quickly enough to catch most of them - proper blinkandyoumissit stuff. Trying to photograph them as they zoomed past, micro-wobbling their head around a padded traffic light before full throttling it over the crossroads as their momentum peaked on the downward stretch to Bray Hill was nigh-on impossible, especially when trying to keep the background slightly blurred to retain at least some kind of reference to the speed they were belting along at.

Interesting that all the so-called proper 'tographers hung around the slowcorners though. With all those fancy cameras and massively expensive zoom lenses it would've been nice to see at least someone official trying to freeze one of the riders in-frame whilst on a blistering stretch.

Competitor in shot is Dean Harrison, who was named the fastest newcomer with an average lap speed of 119.385mph. Sadly he was forced to retire before he finished the race, but it just goes to show you should always keep an eye on the underdogs in sport, hey...
