~the Laura Ingalls dress~

First you must understand my love for the"Little House on the Prairie." The books, the show, the whole idea of life at that time in our history fascinated me as a young girl. I think I have seen every episode of the show and I know I have read every book. When I was around 9 years old my Mom made me a Laura look alike dress, I was in heaven. Sadly, I even had the big front teeth with a gap to match, just like Laura.

Forward to about 18 years later and when I found out I was pregnant for the first time. As we didn't know what we were having my Mom bought both girl and boy clothes. This is the first thing she had bought. She said it reminded her of me and "House on the Prairie" and that the little dress with the petticoat was meant for my daughter. It has sat in her closet for almost 9 1/2 years waiting. She never had the heart to give it to anyone else. I think deep down she believed, like I did that I would have that little girl to wear this dress. Thank you Mom for never giving away this dress. It was meant for Lily. I love you!
