XJ Day #2: Hotan/Khotan/Hetian

Known for it's pure white jade, Hetian or Hotan or Khotan, whatever you wanna refer to it as, is a small oasis city on the southwestern tip of the Taklamakan desert. Made up of 90% Uyghur Muslims, this place hardly resembles the China that is recognized around the world. Besides the statue of Mao (rumored to be the only one in China that has another person along side the late former leader), signs of Han Chinese are few. The phrase "TIC - This is China" might need to be changed to "TIAC- This is also China"
