Home

For some time now I have taken for granted the fact that, for me, the word 'Home' has meant a place of safety, security, comfort, joy, family and all other fuzzy words.

I hadn't really stopped for long to consider that for some the word may hold a very different meaning.

Given the current situation with my No. 1 boy's back, Home is becoming somewhere I have to be. Somewhere to be with him, should he need me. In the coming weeks it will become more important to be around him after his surgery. In sickness and in health, his slave, comforter and general dog's body. I may be keeping a tally though, just so I can claim my rewards.

And for Leith's Sunshine Boy, 'Home' is about to take on an entirely new meaning. I do hope we get it just so before he has to move in, and that it offers him the comfort and safety that he so rightly deserves, although I doubt it. Our only comfort is that sometimes, even your very, very best just isn't enough.

Recently someone living nearby has splashed out on a brand new state of the art motor home, with two up two down living accommodation. I wonder if one of the sales pitches included the fact that it looks just like a smurf, with its blue body and white sleeping compartment that goes upwards in a nice rounded manner, a bit like Papa Smurfs hat.
